Since 1999 the Greene County Museum has provided its history and culture to the community. throughout the years we have expanded our programs and exhibits by displaying a variety of multimedia, artist, craftsmen, and historical events.
We are a non-profit organization comprised of volunteers, board members, historians, and artist. We are all dedicated to the preservation of the historical buildings, culture, and artwork.
The Greene County Museum deeply values our connection with the community and is committed to finding meaningful ways to engage with you. Through our educational initiatives, interactive workshops, art and historical exhibits, and outreach programs, we aim to support and uplift our local artisans. We look forward to working together to share their love of art and to create a space where everyone's creativity can shine.
Each of us carries a little artist within, waiting to be discovered. A mentor can guide us in unlocking our creativity and mastering techniques that elevate our skills to new heights. By volunteering at the museum, you have the opportunity to inspire others to explore their artistic abilities, fostering a vibrant community where the pride and passion for art can flourish.
Arts education is essential for the academic success of students. Numerous studies demonstrate a strong connection between participation in the arts and improvements in attendance, academic performance, literacy, and math skills. Unfortunately, many schools face challenges with their art programs due to insufficient funding, which often forces teachers to use their own money for materials. With your help, we can ensure that classrooms are equipped with the necessary supplies and support to help them achieve their academic goals. Another option is to create your own class! Community centers and local libraries are often looking for new workshops and classes to offer. If you provide the materials, they can help bring in participants. Be sure to give them details about what the class will include, and try to be flexible with scheduling by emailing greenecountymuseumnc@gmail.com
Volunteering at our museum offers significant rewards, and it allows you to be surrounded by incredible art! By sharing your techniques and knowledge, you help others gain additional skills that expand their imagination. The tasks you may take on could range from assisting with curatorial duties to staffing openings. Museums can be a fantastic source of inspiration for your own work, and they are also an excellent place to connect with the local art community.

We believe the arts should be accessible to everyone. This commitment is at the heart of our mission: "arts for all people." At the Greene County Museum in North Carolina, we recognize that the arts enrich lives when diverse voices are respected and showcased. By integrating the arts into our schools, we inspire students to embrace their creativity, drawing from Greene County's culture and history. The museum supports local students through art clubs and workshops, such as the ceramic flower workshop led by the National Art Honor Society. With your support, we can continue empowering students to develop their artistic skills and expand their imaginations.
Many individuals in our community grapple with significant challenges that affect their daily lives. Art emerges as a powerful therapeutic tool, providing a unique outlet for those in need to express their innermost thoughts and emotions. Through the vibrant act of creating, individuals can channel their feelings and struggles into various forms of art, whether it be painting, drawing, or crafting. This creative journey not only serves as a form of release but also cultivates a profound sense of pride and accomplishment as they produce beautiful works of art for others to admire and appreciate. In this way, art becomes a bridge of connection, allowing individuals to share their stories and experiences with the broader community.
